There have been 88 recorded, very violent demonstrations from January 1 2011 to May 5 2012 in which white South Africans and black foreign shopowners were specifically targetted in racist violence by black South African racist-mobs. These attacks were accompanied by hate speech, and usually occurred at burning tyre-barricades which barred major thoroughfares. One white woman was gang-raped ‘in revenge’ by a large group of black males, another white woman was rescued from the same fate by two police officers in the nick of time, and some 100 foreign-owned shops were torched and the owners chased away, often assaulted and pelted with stones and beatings, and accompanied by a great deal of black-racist hate-speech against foreigners.

There are a growing number of large-scale riots in South Africa this past year during which many major SA roads were blocked by burning tyre-barricades and very violent, large crowds of people from adjacent squatter camps next to the highways, demand bribes from motorists.
However these specific demonstrations mentioned in the incidents below and on the above map, were specially targetting white South Africans and black foreign shopowners in black-racist violence.
Afrikaans woman gang-raped ‘in revenge’ at roadblock by black Rustenburg residents wo demanded jobs at local mine
During one of those demonstrations in Rustenburg, two horrific hatecrimes took place against white women and Somali shops torched. In the first crime, a white Afrikaans woman was pulled from her car while waiting to pay a ‘fine’ at an illegal road block by a large mob of black males, dragged to a nearby mineshaft and gang-raped ‘in revenge’.These Rustenburg gang-rapists were demonstrating to force the local Implats platinum mine to hire local workers. The hatespeech slogan Kill the Boer was frequently sung during these protests.
In the ‘coloured’ Grabouw suburb of Pineview, a mob formed and pitched street battled raged after a rumour that ‘the blacks’ planned to burn down the nearby highly school, attended mainly by coloured pupils from the local community on March 19 2012:
Mrs Anita Venter, 24, was saved from a large black mob on March 7 2012 by two courageous police-officers
In the second hate-speech Afrikaner resident Anita Venter, 24, was saved from a mob of demonstrators from a Cosatu-linked trade union on March 7 2012. Mrs Venter probably also escaped gang-rape when the mob of an estimated violent, armed 300 males pulled her from her car and started trying to strangle and beat her.
They dragged the defenceless woman from her car and tried to turn over her vehicle. However she made a u-turn to avoid them – only to run into a second mob which had barred the road with a burning barrier – and where motorists were forced to pay bribes. She said: “One man was in control of this bariier. I gesticulated to him whether he would let me through. He indicated No.The next moment a mob descended on my car banging on the windows. I tried to drive off to get away.” She thought nobody was following her and drove into Beyers Naudéstraat road. She turned into Fatima Bhayat Street because it was supposedly closed for demonstrators, and she saw a black female traffic warden on duty. The terrified Mrs Venter also saw another woman who also tried to turn, and who had a slight collision at very low speed. Mrs Venter stopped. The traffic warden stood to next to her car. “The nest moment a man jumped on top of my car and sat down on the engine-hood. I asked the traffic warden to ask the man to get off my car. ‘The next moment a large group of people stormed her car and started rocking it, bashing it, and the female traffic warden disappeared. The mob broke the windows, threw stones. A man grabbed her throat after the driver’s window was broken, and started throttling her with his hands. Just then two police officers arrived just as people had plucked open her car and two men were dragging her from the car by her shoulders and feet. “The police officers saved my life. They even beat the people who were dragging and beating me with their fists so that they could rescue me ordering them to let me go.”The aftermath: the NW police claim tho be investigating a case of ‘reckless driving’ against Mrs Venter for ‘hitting the car of a woman called Mrs Mzwandele Ntemgemonta (43), the other woman who tried to turn at the roadblock thrown up by the mob. The black woman was not molested.
Somali shops were torched by 3000 mine-workers and its owners chased out
Police denied it was ‘xenophobia-related’ violence: but at least one shopkeeper, Somali refugee Abdinoor Adan Madobe, lodged an appeal with the UN for help to protect their community after the miners attacked their shops repeatedly.
Nylstroom fuel-station owner in Nylstroom, Jaco Rossouw, was torched with a molotov cocktail
He died with 95% burn wounds on 24 March 2012; while spare-parts company owner Hennie Greeff shot twice in the head on March 26 2012. He was reported in critical condition. It’s not known whether he survived.
Working class Afrikaner family cursed as ‘White Trash”
Above: While this was not in a ‘riot-setting’, the incidents on 23 February 2012, against a working-class Afrikaner family also were recorded as a similar hate crime: the Blignaut family wage-earner was attacked in their backyard in Brackenfell, Western Cape – first by knifeman, the second time the guy brought a friend and they attacked and stabbed Mr Blignaut repeatedly. The Afrikaner had to fight his way back into the house while the two attackers tried to rip off the security gate – they were in an absolute rage and yet there seemed to be no motivation for this frenzied attack at all. http://youtu.be/DdlmQrYjJvc
